NETWORKING AT IS BEST by Dee Rogevich
Someone recently asked me why I believed in Networking. Are you kidding me? If you are in business, networking is your business. I know of many professionals who have built their entire business and tie their success directly to the relationships they have developed at networking organizations. I get so exhausted with complaints of “Networking did nothing for me” from people who do not attend networking events on a regular basis. It’s the old story; I joined the gym and didn’t lose a pound.
People need to make the commitment to the networking organizations they join, attend their activities, build relationships and cultivate them outside of the organization. The results can be amazing. Without active participation you might as well just continue the most failed business growths, cold calling or hoping your phone will ring.
Nicki Beekman gets it and she gets it done. I recently met Nicki at an Exton Chamber event. Her company, WeNetwork4You, is brilliant. I am on the Board of the Exton Region Chamber of Commerce and never knew one company was a member of the Chamber until Nicki started to represent them. People listen to her when she talks. They want to be around her. She has such positive energy. She can market herself, which means she can market you. I have no doubt her company will succeed.
Even if you do have the time to network, are you the right person to do it? Are people always finding a way to walk away? It doesn’t mean that you are not the best at what you do for your profession, but that alone does not make you the person to be doing the networking. WeNetwork4You has a powerful concept and I see nothing but success coming their way with Nicki at the helm. I’d suggest you not let your competitor be the first to find her.
